THE STOMACH MERIDIAN

THE STOMACH MERIDIAN

The STOMACH MERIDIAN works very closely with the SPLEEN MERIDIAN to perform the human body’s digestion and absorption.  Together the two are called the “ACQUIRED FOUNDATION” in that they lay the digestive health of the body.  The STOMACH MERIDIAN assures that the lifeforce energy or vital CHI descends/passes into the internal system.

The STOMACH MERIDIAN emerges from the end of the LARGE INTESTINE MERIDIAN just under the eyes. It then goes around the nose to encircle the bridge of the nose, simultaneously going down around the mouth and up each cheek to the forehead.  It then travels from the lower jaw through the neck to the sternum, where it divides into two branches. One branch passes down the chest, belly, and groin, and continues down each leg, ending at the tip of the second toe.

To trace this meridian place both hands underneath your eyes, drop to your jawbomne, circle up the outside of your face to your forehead, come down through your eyes to your collarbone, go out at your collarbone, over your breasts, in at your waist, out at your hips, straight down your legs, and off the second toes.  The peak hour during your natural circadian rhythms is 7am-9am.

Misalignments in this energetic channel typically cause gastric disturbances, toothaches and mental issues related to compulsively checking the same things repeatedly. Stomach aches, mouth sores, digestive disturbances, fluid in the abdomen, hunger, nausea, vomiting, thirst, swollen neck and sore throat all my present themselves when this energetic channel is blocked or in a state of energetic atrophy.
